The Falcon Playhouse Presents Big Fish - Reminder

This year the Falcon Playhouse plans to entice viewers with stories beyond their wildest dreams from the weekends of February 29th to March 2nd and March 7th to March 9th. Big Fish the musical tells the story of a man, Edward Bloom, and how his imagination has shaped and continues to affect his relationships with others. On his deathbed, Edward Bloom comes face to face with reality, but he never fails to let go of his inspiring tales. Edward and his son, Will, share a complicated relationship that is shoved to the forefront of the musical. Despite the conflict, Big Fish ends on a heartwarming note, giving homage to fatherhood, and displaying the beauty within Edwards narratives. Big Fish will elevate the Falcon Playhouse and convey the importance of storytelling, which is vital to actors and technicians everywhere. Interested in STEAM programs in our schools?
The Scripps Ranch Schools Committee has released a survey to gather community input regarding the new Scripps Mesa STEAM Educational Program. This project is being built at the new Livia complex at the corner of Scripps Poway Parkway and Spring Canyon Drive and will offer students STEAM educational opportunities. See this link for SDUSD’s complete presentation on the space. Participant feedback will be compiled and discussed at the February 21 Schools Committee meeting. Final results will be shared with the district. The survey is open now and will close on Monday, February 5. Please take this opportunity to complete the survey and share your feedback so that our community can help advise the district on the best use of space. Thank you for your participation.  -Scripps Ranch Schools Committee

Resources for Families Impacted by Monday’s Severe Atmospheric River Event - SDUSD
We recognize that communities have been severely impacted by Monday’s storm.  Children & Youth in Transition developed a list of resources to assist families and students during this difficult time.

  • The Red Cross is located at Lincoln High School for families that need immediate support.  Families should be directed to the new gym where they can enter off Franklin & Gloria. Red Cross personnel are on campus to assist.

  • The Humane Society is set up outside of the gym for pets. The situation will be assessed day by day, but they are currently open.

  • Support is available, such as a hotel stay for families in need for up to 10 days. Project Rest assists families in providing temporary housing vouchers who do not have home/renters insurance. Click this link for forms needed for Project REST (emergency motel stay) Families may request a referral to the county Office of Homeless for a case manager to assist with finding more stable housing.
