SRHS Weekly Updates as of 8-20-23
Posted on 08/20/2023

Dear Falcon Families,

If you did not see my update from earlier today (sent around 1:50pm), the first day of school has now been postponed to Tuesday, August 22nd. See the following link for communication from our Superintendent, Dr. Lamont Jackson: First Day of School Postponed to August 22.

We’re excited to welcome students back to school now Tuesday to get the 2023-24 school year off to a great start. Students are now asked to check their PowerSchool Student Portal on Tuesday morning so they can see what classes they are in. Administration, counseling, and other staff will be circulating around campus before school and during the passing periods to ensure students know where they are going and to answer any questions students may have. Today’s update includes mostly reminders that I included last week, such as where to park, where to drop off, details for our Week of Welcome and more. See below for the latest updates as of 8-20-23.

* Please forward this message to your child’s email account so they have all the latest info.

Bell Schedule and Important Dates - Reminder

See the Falcon Time Schedule 2023-24 for this year’s bell schedule. School will begin at 8:35am and end at 3:23pm. To allow for staff professional development as well as student opportunities for revision and reassessment, there will be 18 “Modified Mondays'' interspersed throughout the school year. During “Modified Mondays,” school will begin at 8:35am and end at 2:23pm. The dates and times for “Modified Mondays” are in the Falcon Time Schedule document.

Week of Welcome - Reminder

This year, we are excited to start our school year off with our second annual “Week of Welcome.” During the first week of school, we will have various activities to help students build relationships with their peers/staff, review our Falcon Pride values, build school spirit, increase student connection with the school, and more. During our first two days, teachers will give a brief overview of their classes as well as take students through various fun and informational activities. Wednesday and Thursday teachers will begin their classes and students will continue with school culture building activities during their advisory period. The week will finish with a fun lunch activity on Friday. We’re looking forward to an exciting week of bonding and fun activities to get the school year started off strong.

Student Parking - Reminder

The student parking lots are located inside the campus gates, and the gates will be closed during the school day. Student parking lots will be the South Parking Lot, the west side of the Bungalow Lot, and certain spots in the parking lot outside of the 700 building. See the Student Parking Lots 23-24 for a visual.

Student Drop-Off and Pick-Up - Reminder

At Scripps Ranch High, traffic during pick-up and drop-off times has been a problem since our school has “one way in and one way out.” In order to limit traffic as much as possible, we are asking parents/guardians to drop off their students in designated locations on the East Side of Falcon Way, Scripps Lake Drive, or Treena Street. See this Student Drop-Off & Pick-Up for details.

Food and Nutrition Services 2023-24 - Reminder

During the 2023-24 school year, students will receive one breakfast and one lunch each school day at no cost. Students will need to use their meal PIN numbers or scan their ID barcodes on their student ID cards to receive meals.

That’s all for today. We’re looking forward to welcoming everybody on Tuesday for the first day of the 2023-24 school year.

Sincerely,

Matt Lawson, Ed.D

Principal
