SRHS Weekly Updates as of 8-24-25
Posted on 08/24/2025

Dear Falcon Families,

The first two weeks of school have flown by and our students are doing a great job getting adjusted to their new classes and reconnecting with their peers and teachers. Our athletics, theater, music, and AFROTC programs are all beginning strong, and our ASB club program will begin soon, offering students even more ways to connect with campus.

Last week, all students were invited to join the Google classroom for their grade. Please remind your student to do this, as the Google classrooms give students access to all the announcements and information needed for their grade level. Students can look forward to updates on spirit weeks, HomeComing, Saturday School (SR6), upcoming progress reports, and more. Yearbook photo make ups will be held this week. Students needing their pictures received passes with a designated time to report to the photographer this coming week.

We are pleased to announce a guest speaker scheduled to speak before Back to School Night this week (Wednesday, August 27th). FALCONnections and SRHS Foundation are excited to present a special talk entitled Attending to Your Overall Student's Wellness presented by Dr. Shuman, Psychologist. The FALCONnections aims to expand awareness of mental health resources and provide mental health support to the SRHS community through parent workshops, student assemblies, and other types of campus and community outreach. FALCONnections is a parent organization housed within the SRHS Foundation. Please see below for more information and the schedule for the presentation before Back to School Night.

The Foundation is proud to report the return of our Wednesday College Series, beginning September 10th. All students are welcome to come to the library during lunch to visit with college representatives. More information on the schedule is below.

From the San Diego County Office of Education, two partners, Children’s Primary Care Medical Group and La Mesa Police Department, are hosting Family Safety Days in September! Meet your local first responders, explore hands-on demonstrations, pick up helpful safety tips and resources, and learn about public service careers. Bring the whole family and connect with your community as we work together to stay safe, prepared, and informed! See below for more information.

As a reminder, every Monday is a Modified Monday, with school dismissal at 2:29pm. If students need to see their teachers during this time, they should follow up with their teacher in order to schedule a meeting.

This week’s updates include reminders for Back to School night schedule (including the guest speaker from the FALCONnections), drop-off and pick-up, attendance procedures, the return of the Wednesday College series, a message from the Foundation, and more.

Student Drop-Off and Pick-Up - Reminder

At Scripps Ranch High, traffic during pick-up and drop-off times has been a problem since our school has “one way in and one way out.” In order to limit traffic as much as possible, we are asking parents/guardians to drop off their students in designated locations on the East Side of Falcon Way, Scripps Lake Drive, or Treena Street. See this Student Drop-Off & Pick-Up for details. Please do not park along any curbs that are painted red in front of the theatre or at the top of Falcon Way; these are to be kept open in case of emergency. View these Traffic Safety Tips for drivers and students from SDUSD.

Attendance Procedure Updates - Reminder

New this year, parents/guardians will report student absences via two Google forms. There is an Early Release Request form and an Absence/Late Arrival Notification form. These forms will go live on the first day of school, August 11th. Although anyone can access these forms, submissions will only be received when sent using the parent/guardian email address on file in PowerSchool. All other submissions will be automatically blocked. You may have a new attendance clerk—see below. All information regarding attendance, including the links, can be found on the attendance website and pages 12-16 in the student handbook.

Counseling Updates

Class Changes: If a student requested a change on the Kick-Off google form or on the yellow Class Change Request Form, the change will be reflected in PowerSchool. Students will see the change by Monday morning, if the change was possible. All future requests for level changes will start by speaking with their teacher. The teachers have a Level Change Form that requires feedback from the student, parent and teacher.

Senior Supports: Seniors will view a video presentation in their English classes from counseling to address the college application process and other post-secondary options. The following day the video will be posted on the Senior page of the counseling website for parents and students who are absent or enrolled in the college English class. Additional supports coming up are a parent zoom for follow up questions, senior one-on-one meetings with their counselor and college applications labs. Senior students and parents will receive an email with more details.
