Dear Falcon Families,
As we move into the final week of October, we’re wrapping up an eventful month here at Scripps Ranch. Our Falcon Playhouse just closed its successful run of “The Canterville Ghost.” A huge thank you to all who came out to support the cast and crew, especially those who brought their little ones for the opening night trick-or-treat event. Our Cross Country team is breaking records this year, with our girls team currently ranked 2nd in the county and 8th in the State, and the boys ranked 4th in the county. This weekend, on Saturday, November 2nd, the Hoka Postal 2 mile championships will feature some of the fastest runners in Southern CA AND the famous Mascot Race will feature our much-beloved AP Euro teacher, Mr. Raz, racing as Freddy the Falcon!
This Saturday, November 2nd, our marching band will host the Falcon Invitational, here at the Scripps Ranch stadium at 2pm. More than a dozen bands will be present and competing. If any community members would like to help, and for more information, visit www.srhsmusic.com.
For fall sports, CIF championships are just around the corner, so be sure to check the athletics website for game dates and updates. If you can make an upcoming Senior Night to cheer on our fall athletics, the teams would love the support. The remaining Fall Sports Senior Nights are as follows: Flag Football 10/28, Boys WaterPolo 10/28, Field Hockey 10/30, Football/Cheer/Band/Color Guard 11/1, and Cross Country 11/6. Visit srfalcons.org for other dates, locations, and all other SRHS athletics information, including scores and pictures.
This coming week marks the final week of the second progress report grading period, ending on Friday, November 1st. If your student is struggling in any course, please encourage them to follow up with their teacher and explore the many available tutoring options. We encourage all students to self-advocate and use resources like SR6 Saturday School to get caught up on missing assignments or improve their grades before the quarter ends.
In the spirit of Halloween, students are welcome to wear costumes to school on Thursday, 10/31, as long as they follow the dress code. Costumes must be school-appropriate, and while minimal face paint is allowed, masks and full face coverage are not permitted so that students remain recognizable.
As always, please remind your students to check their grade level Google Classroom for updates and stay connected with the ASB Instagram page for event details and upcoming deadlines. See below for this week’s important reminders, updates and upcoming events such as an E-bike education session and a guest speaker coming on November 8th.
Happy Halloween week, Falcons!

End of Progress Reporting 2 (P2) Grading Period
Friday, November 1st, marks the end of Progress Report 2 (P2) grading period. Teachers will post grades to be available via PowerSchool on Friday, November 8th. These grades are a formative progress report and do not represent a final summative semester grade. The final summative grading period for semester one closes on December 20th.
Halloween Costume Expectations
Students may wear costumes to school on Thursday, 10/31, as long as they follow the dress code. Costumes must be school-appropriate, and while minimal face paint is allowed, masks and full face coverage are not permitted so that students remain recognizable.
Counseling Updates
9th-11th Grade: Articulation starts this week. Articulation is the district process in which students select the following year’s courses. The deadline to submit the course card and input course requests in PowerSchool is Friday, November 8th. Click here to view the Articulation Timeline. You can also view Grade Level pages on the Counseling website for important information. srhscounseling.com
Due to the timeline being moved up for Articulation, we have combined the Articulation Presentation with the Fall Grade Level Presentations we do every year. So, in addition to posting Articulation items on the grade level pages on the counseling website, we will also be posting the Grade Level Guides/Support Packets.
Guest Speaker
On November 8th there will be a special guest speaker on campus, Melvin Adams (Harlem Globetrotter Inspiring Others to Achieve Their Dreams). Mr. Adams will discuss achieving great things even in the face of adversity. Melvin Adams became a two-time NCAA All-American basketball player and the team captain of the World Famous Harlem Globetrotters at only 5’8” and encourages his audiences to imagine what is possible.
E-Bike Education for Parents & Students
An increasing number of students are riding their e-bikes to school and around the community. The San Diego County Bicycle Coalition and Scripps Injury Prevention Team is offering an E-Bike Education session for students and parents at SRHS on Thursday November 7th, 3:45-4:45pm in the library. This session is not only for those riding e-bikes, but is also for people who drive in communities where e-bikes are ridden. Scripps Injury Prevention Team will provide helmet fittings along with bike-related giveaway items. No sign-up required; students in attendance will also receive 60 min toward attendance recovery. See flyer.
The Wednesday College Series
The Wednesday College Series this Wednesday, October 30st, will feature UCSD. The College Series takes place at lunch (12:55-1:25) in the library, and all students are welcome. Use this link to see the full schedule of colleges that will be in attendance.
SR6 Saturday Session 10/26/24 - Reminder
Our next SR6 session is scheduled for Saturday 10/26 with available support in the subjects of Spanish and English. Students can also choose to join the Garden Club in the garden with Mr. Johnson. Sign up here. SR6 (Scripps Ranch 6) is an academic support available to all students. It is a 6th day of school hosted on select Saturdays for four hours, 8am-12pm. SR6 will be hosted by a certificated teacher(s) who will provide instruction and support. A breakfast and lunch meal is available for all students attending SR6 at no charge. All students have been invited to their “Class of” Google Classroom, where they can view the content areas of the teacher(s) scheduled for each session, and sign up. SR6 is also an avenue for students to recover their attendance (AZTWs in PowerSchool) to remain eligible for school events. Additional opportunities for academic support and attendance recovery can be found on student’s Google Classroom as well. View Semester One SR6 Dates.
Federal Impact Aid Survey - Reminder
It is that time of the year to help our school secure critical funding by completing the Federal Impact Aid form. We are asking ALL families to complete the brief form by using one of the two options described below to help us qualify for funding. Please note that all information provided will be treated confidentially. Impact Aid funds are designated to assist school districts that enroll federally connected students. In San Diego Unified, many students are federally connected based on where they live or where their parents work. Impact Aid funds become part of the district’s general operating budget and support instructional activities for ALL students.
HOW:
Option 1 (preferred)
Complete the form through the PowerSchool Parent Portal.
-
Login at https://powerschool.sandi.net/
-
Select Forms from the left-hand navigation menu, then select 2024-25 Impact Aid Survey.

Follow the prompts and submit the form. Please be sure a confirmation appears before logging off.
-
If you do not yet have a parent Portal account, contact Jason Lyons ([email protected]).

Paper forms will also be distributed by our school the last week of October (If you have previously completed the form in PowerSchool, you do not need to complete the paper form). Please sign, date and return the form to our school by November 15, 2024.
